The Call That Changed Everything

The boardroom on the top floor of Rathore Group Headquarters was silent.

A presentation filled the massive screen while the company's directors discussed a multi-billion-dollar international project.

At the head of the table sat Abhimanyu Singh Rathore, the CEO of Rathore Group.

Calm.

Composed.

Unreadable.

Beside him sat his younger brother, Vedant Singh Rathore, Executive Director of the company.

Every person in the room waited for Abhimanyu's decision.

Just as he was about to speak, his phone vibrated.

He frowned.

Very few people had permission to call him during an important meeting.

The caller ID read:

Chief Bodyguard

Abhimanyu answered immediately.

"Yes?"

The bodyguard's anxious voice came through the phone.

"Sir... Shanvika ma'am suddenly fainted during her college lecture."

Abhimanyu's expression changed instantly.

"We've brought her to City Care Hospital. While she was falling, she injured her left hand. The doctors are examining her now."

"I'll be there in ten minutes."

Without another word, Abhimanyu stood up.

Every director in the room looked at him in surprise.

Vedant noticed the concern in his brother's eyes.

"What happened?"

"It's Shanvika."

Those two words were enough.

Vedant immediately picked up his car keys.

Abhimanyu looked at the board members.

"The meeting is over. We'll continue tomorrow."

Before anyone could respond, the two brothers walked out.

...

Ten minutes later...

Their black Rolls-Royce stopped outside City Care Hospital.

Abhimanyu almost ran inside.

The receptionist pointed toward Room 307.

He opened the door.

Shanvika was sitting on the hospital bed.

Her left arm rested in a temporary sling.

She looked pale but smiled the moment she saw him.

"You came."

Abhimanyu crossed the room in long strides and wrapped his arms around her without saying a word.

He held her carefully, afraid of hurting her.

"You scared me," he whispered.

Shanvika smiled weakly.

"I'm sorry."

A second later, Vedant entered the room.

"You really know how to give us a heart attack."

Shanvika laughed softly.

"I'm fine."

"Fine?" Vedant raised an eyebrow.

"You fainted."

Before Shanvika could answer, the doctor walked into the room carrying her reports.

"Mr. Rathore?"

"Yes, Doctor."

"The good news is that Miss Shanvika is stable."

Everyone sighed in relief.

"However..."

The doctor's tone became serious.

"During the fall, she suffered a fracture in her left wrist. She'll need to wear a cast for several weeks and should avoid using that hand until it heals."

Shanvika looked down at her arm.

"So... I can't even write properly?"

"I'm afraid not for a while," the doctor replied kindly.

"We'll prescribe medication and schedule regular follow-ups."

After the doctor left, silence filled the room.

Abhimanyu gently sat beside Shanvika.

He brushed a strand of hair away from her face.

"Does it hurt?"

"A little."

Vedant pulled a chair closer and sat on her other side.

"If you need anything, just tell us."

Shanvika smiled.

"You both worry too much."

"That's because you matter to us," Vedant replied.

Abhimanyu carefully helped Shanvika stand up.

"Ready to go home?" he asked softly.

She looked at him and smiled.

"Home?"

He nodded.

"My mansion."

She laughed lightly.

"I told you, Mr. Rathore... I'll move into your mansion after our wedding."

Abhimanyu folded his arms.

"That plan has been cancelled."

"What?"

"You have a fractured hand. You can't cook, you can't carry your bags, and you definitely can't stay alone."

"I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself."

"Oh, really?" Vedant interrupted with a grin.

"You couldn't even hold your phone five minutes ago."

"Vedant!" Shanvika glared at him.

"I'm just telling the truth, Bhabhi... I mean..."

He stopped in the middle of the sentence.

The room became silent.

Shanvika's cheeks instantly turned pink.

Vedant covered his mouth.

"Oops."

Abhimanyu looked at his younger brother and shook his head with a helpless smile.

Vedant laughed nervously.

"Sorry... future Bhabhi."

Shanvika hid her face with her uninjured hand.

"I think I should go back to sleep."

Abhimanyu chuckled for the first time that day.

"No chance."

He gently picked up her hospital bag.

"You're coming home with us."

Shanvika looked at the two brothers and sighed dramatically.

"I already know I'm going to lose this argument."

Vedant proudly smiled.

"Welcome to the Rathore family."

For the first time that day...

The hospital room echoed with laughter.
